Earthquake Hits Southern Fars Province

SHIRAZ, Fars Province An earthquake measuring 4.8 degrees on the open-ended Richter scale hit south of Fars Province, in southern Iran, at 06:54 hours local time (02:24 hours GMT) Saturday. The Seismological Base of the provincial capital Shiraz, affiliated to Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, registered the epicenter of the quake 250 km south of the base in Avaz District of the city of Larestan. According to the report, the quake has caused no damage.
